Simon suspended! Good that's what he gets for stepping on Jarko!!!
I can't wait for the Winter Classic, Orchard Park here I come. I think it's a great idea to have the Pens play the Flyers every year in an outdoor game at Beaver Stadium!!! I mean who wouldn't want to go to that, even if the Pens do lose every year!?!?
Ok, so the 'Guins aren't on pace to make the playoffs, so what? Maybe they'll have this great January-Febuary run? Yeah right, especially when you have Malkin and Crosby on the same line. If history has taught us anything in the Pens organization, it's that splitting the superstars only ennhances your odds. Recall Jagr Lemieux...the split did them both good. And then think are the Pens a forechecking kind of team...or would they be better served to allow the speed and stick handling ability get them into the o-zone? Just a question...don't go launching pucks at me!
Mark Recchi = amazing! 2 goals in his first game with Atlanta? And I bet you thought he didn't have it in him. I knew he wouldn't last the season in a Guins uniform, but damn I wish he could retire in one, the Wreckin' Ball is Pittsburgh, just as much as Mario Lemieux is!
And how about Sid the Kid brawlin' in Beantown?
Merry Christmas!

Penguins' Recchi clears waivers, is sent to minors
December 6, 2007
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Mark Recchi, a career 510-goal scorer who was waived by the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this week, was assigned Thursday to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
It is uncertain whether Recchi must report to the Penguins' top farm club. Recchi has not played in the minors since 1990.
If the Penguins recall him -- which they can do without him playing for Wilkes-Barre -- another NHL team can claim Recchi for half of his $1.75 million contract. The Penguins would pay the other half.
Recchi passed through waivers without being claimed this week, but another team picking him up then would have been responsible for paying the rest of his salary this season.
Recchi, with Pittsburgh for the third time in his career, has two goals and six assists in 19 games but only one goal in 18 games.
Penguins coach Michel Therrien said the Penguins' younger players deserved more ice time than Recchi, who will turn 40 in February. Recchi was scratched for six consecutive games before being waived.
"We believe we gave him an opportunity," Therrien said. "It didn't work out."
The Penguins brought back Recchi and 41-year-old forward Gary Roberts this season to add their veteran presence to one of the NHL's youngest teams. Roberts has one goal and 10 assists in 26 games.
Watch out Gary Roberts and all the other vets on the Pens squad you too may need to be checking on Wilkes-Barre real estate!!!!

Mark Recchi
Ok, as a die-hard Pittsburgh Penguin fan-- how can Mark Recchi not only clear waivers, but be placed on waivers in the first place? If you haven't figured out by the intro I am a huge Recchi fan as well. The man is 9th in total points despite being a scratch in 7 of the last 8. He adds leadership to the crew, despite the great leadership of Sid the Kid; there is something in veterans being a leader as well. I understand that he maybe shouldn't be an alternate captain, but that's niether here nor there. Why is it that someone like oh... Adam Hall, Jordan Staal, or Georges Laraque hasn't been a scratch lately? Staal only has two goals and four assissts putting him 13th in the stats over 26 games!!! Maybe there is some truth to the rumors that Recchi and Therrien have had it out a couple of times? What about Therrien not making an attempt to fit him into the future of the team? I have seen the games, yes Recchi's hop hasn't been there every game; yes, he doesn't look as solid as say three years ago...but can you say that what he has given hasn't been enough? Especially, when your coach may not be behind you? I am just hoping Recchi isn't treated as poorly as LeClair was...but truthfully it was a sh*t move not dressing him for the celebration of his 500th goal.
As a season ticket holder I am highly disappointed!
